PGFC 2014 Andaman Adventure March 22nd to April 18th 2014

The Andaman IslandsPhuket Game Fishing Club in Conjunction with Gottcha Big Game Fishing. Andaman Fishing Adventures and Sea King Divers are pleased to announce the details of our 2014 Andaman Island Adventure & Extreme Fishing Trip.
MV Hooker fishing boat in Phuket ThailandThat sports fishermen may now be offered a trip to the Andaman Islands is an event in itself, because these mysterious islands were long cut off from the world and voluntarily closed to tourists. Some of the islands are still off bounds to protect aboriginal tribes. The Andaman Islands Archipelago, a dependency of India, is nearer to Burma (Myanmar) or Thailand than to India. The Archipelago is made up of 329 islands and islets at the very center of the Bay of Bengal, some 1200 km east of Chennai and 665 km to the west of Phuket. Thanks to an exceptional submarine environment of shoals, underwater canyons and coral reefs, as well as years of isolation and the complete absence of commercial fisheries, the waters around the Andaman Islands offer vast richness, not only in the quantity, but also in the diversity of the fish, to the extent that this region is one of the future world leaders in sport fishing. We have a profound respect for this environment and we practice catch-and-release fishing whenever possible, a principle which as an Official IGFA club our Captains & Crew promote with conviction.
Fishing in the Andaman IslandsPGFC are taking 4 Vessels to the Andaman Islands from Phuket Thailand . The Main Mother Ship is the Dive Vessel MV Phoenix a modern live aboard vessel with all the modern amenities that you would expect. The 2 main Fishing Vessels are MV Queen Marlin & MV Hooker both modern sport fishing vessels with experienced crews and top of the range fishing equipment. Last but not least is MV Ocean Hunter a purpose built all aluminum centre console sport fisher also with top of the range Shimano equipment. We are all looking forward to the Adventure of a lifetime and with Captain Uwe of Hooker who has been to the Andaman’s many times we have the right people on board.
Getting there:
MV Queen Marlin fishing boat Phuket ThailandPort Blair is accessed by air either from Chennai (formerly Madras) or Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) in India, the flights reach Port Blair the Capital of the Andaman Islands by noon each day. If you want to there is the option of taking the ship ride across although this is not recommended as it takes over 2 days. The flying time to Port Blair is about 2 hours, in Port Blair you will be met and assisted on arrival.
We recommend Rathman R at www.andamanholidays.com who will arrange flights from India to Port Blair he can be contacted at rathnam@andamanholidays.com Phone +91 3192 239595/234924. Rathman can arrange flights and transfers to our fishing fleet.
At a glance: • Port Blair is the entry point and the Capital of the Andaman group of islands. • Havelock Island is in Ritchie’s Archipelago and lies 22nm or 41km NE of Port Blair the Capital of the Andaman Islands.• The Reefs of Ritchie’s Archipelago are numerous and spread throughout the Archipelago which to its northern most point is not more than 25nm or 46km away from your base at either No. 7 Beach or No. 3 Beach. • The Reefs between the Middle and Little Andaman Islands are also numerous and untouched, these are more easily accessed from Port Blair. Dolphins and Pilot whales make regular appearances off Havelock Island’s No. 7 Beach voted as the best Beach in Asia by The Time Magazine. Fishing Huge Giant Trevally, monster dog tooth tunas, black and blue marlin, large sailfish, big groupers and sharks are all found in one area the Andaman Islands. Best known for explosive surface action with heavy chugging poppers and high octane vertical jigging, the Giant Trevally and Dog-tooth tuna are known to win more battles than the angler as you fish the reef edges and jagged drop offs.
